TEEN CRITERIA

To be part of UCLA's PEERS®program, teens need to meet the following criteria:

  • Aged 13 - 17 years

  • Need to have proficient skills in the recognition and management of their emotions

  • Be interested in learning how to make and keep friends, and how to manage conflict and other social challenges.

  • Have difficulties socialising with peers

  • Diagnoses of Autism Spectrum Disorder (Level 1), Anxiety Disorders and/or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) are welcome

  • Be willing to embrace individual strengths and interests to overcome social challenges

  • Must be motivated to attend the program

  • Must be willing to attend voluntarily

  • Must be able to attend every session of the program

  • Be eager to learn through discussion and activities

  • Be willing to practice skills with social coaches

  • Social coaches must be willing to attend sessions every week in order to support teens throughout the program
