Fees & Funding
Understanding Your Fees & Funding Options
We want you to have clear information about fees before you begin. Depending on the service and your individual circumstances, Medicare rebates or other funding arrangements may apply. This page explains our clinic fees, the funding pathways that may be relevant, and the questions worth checking before you book.
No assumptions about eligibility. No unexpected promises. Just clear information about what you may need to consider.

Funding Options
Ways to Fund Your Sessions
Medicare, NDIS, private health insurance and self-funding may all be relevant depending on your circumstances — here’s how each works.
Medicare
May apply to eligible psychological services where referral and Medicare requirements are met.
Check: referral + service eligibility + current rebate.
NDIS
May be relevant for some services depending on the participant's plan, goals, management arrangement and current funding requirements.
Check: plan + service + funding arrangement.
Private Health
May apply depending on the insurer and policy.
Check: insurer + level of cover + service/provider eligibility.
Self-Funded
Services can also be accessed privately where appropriate.
Check: current clinic/service fee.
Medicare & NDIS
Medicare
Can I Claim a Medicare Rebate?
Eligible clients may be able to claim a Medicare rebate for individual or group psychology services where the relevant Medicare referral, provider and service requirements are met. If you are accessing psychology under a Mental Health Treatment Plan or another eligible Better Access referral pathway, the rebate depends on the psychologist providing the service and the applicable Medicare item.
Individual Appointments
| Provider | Appointment | Fee | Rebate* | Gap* |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Registered Psychologist (Item 80110) | 50 mins | $250 | $101.55 | $148.45 |
| 90 mins | $340 | $101.55 | $238.45 | |
| 120 mins | $480 | $101.55 | $378.45 | |
| Clinical Psychologist (Item 80010) | 50 mins | $280 | $149.05 | $130.95 |
| 90 mins | $375 | $149.05 | $225.95 | |
| 120 mins | $520 | $149.05 | $370.95 |
*Applies only where eligibility, referral and service requirements are met. Longer appointments do not necessarily attract a higher rebate. Rebates are set by the Australian Government and may change.

*Per eligible participant in a group of 4–10, where the participant meets Medicare eligibility and referral requirements, the group or service satisfies Medicare’s requirements, and the treating psychologist meets Medicare’s provider requirements. Not every Social Space group program is Medicare-rebatable — check the relevant program page or ask our team.
Eligible patients can generally access up to 10 individual Better Access psychology services per calendar year, plus a separate allocation of up to 10 group therapy services — subject to referral and eligibility requirements. These limits are set by Medicare and can change; your GP or our team can confirm your current entitlement.
NDIS
Can NDIS Funding Be Used?
Some services offered by The Social Space may be relevant to the goals and supports included in an individual's NDIS plan. Whether NDIS funding can be used depends on factors including the participant's plan, how the plan is managed, the service being accessed, the participant's goals, and current NDIS funding requirements.
Before registering for a service using NDIS funding, please confirm that the service can appropriately be funded under your individual plan. Our team can provide information about the service, its structure, its fee and relevant service documentation — funding eligibility itself is a decision made under your NDIS plan, not something the website can guarantee.
The Social Space currently supports self-managed and plan-managed NDIS participants. Where required, relevant service documentation or agreements are provided as part of the enrolment process.
Group Programs
How Do Group Program Fees Work?
Fees vary depending on the program, duration and structure. Where a current fee is available, it is shown on the relevant program page or confirmed during enquiry or registration. Some eligible group-based psychological services may attract a Medicare rebate where applicable requirements are met — see Medicare above.

Common Questions
Do I need a referral to see a psychologist?
No — you can access private psychological services without a referral. A referral or Mental Health Treatment Plan may be required only if you intend to claim a Medicare rebate for an eligible service.
Can I see a psychologist without using Medicare?
Yes. Many people access our services privately, through NDIS funding, or through private health insurance, without a Medicare referral.
Can I claim a Medicare rebate?
Some appointments may attract a Medicare rebate where the relevant eligibility and referral requirements are met. See the Medicare section below.
Can I use NDIS funding?
Some services may be relevant to an individual's NDIS plan. Whether funding can be used depends on your plan, its management and current NDIS requirements — see the NDIS section below.
Do group programs have different fees?
Yes. Fees vary between programs because programs differ in length, structure and parent involvement. Current fees are shown on each program's page or confirmed during enquiry.
